What Information Does AFDC
Gather?AFDC gathers two types of information about the site’s users: non-personally identifiable information and personally identifiable information.
Non-personally identifiable information
As users access the site, AFDC collects and aggregates information indicating, among other things, which pages were visited, the order in which they were visited, and which hyperlinks were employed. Collecting such information involves the logging of IP addresses, operating system, and browser software used by each visitor. Although such information is not personally identifiable, AFDC can determine from the IP address a visitor’s Internet Service Provider and the geographic location of the user’s point of connectivity.
The non-personally identifiable information collected helps in diagnosing any server problems, administering the site, identifying the most popular areas of the site, and determining the effectiveness of promotional activities.
For the same purposes, AFDC uses “cookies.” These are small text files placed on your computer’s hard drive in order to help determine the type of content and sites visited, the length of time spent on a particular site, and the usage of services offered via the site. For information on how users can control their Web browser’s acceptance of cookies, please refer to the documentation accompanying the browser.
Personally identifiable information
When registering to join the AFDC mailing list to AFDC through its website, you are required to provide personally identifiable information including, your name, address, e-mail address, and phone number and/or facsimile number. This information is gathered so that AFDC can identify to whom and where to send the AFDC mail and correspondence the individuals have registered to receive. When making a charitable contribution through the AFDC website, individuals must have a PayPal account in order to make a contribution through the website. PayPal gathers certain information from account holders and individuals should review the applicable Privacy Policies of PayPal for additional information regarding personally identifiable information.
AFDC does not control the acts of this site’s members or visitors. All members and visitors should be aware that their disclosure of personally identifiable information in a bulletin board, chat room, guest book, or other forum allows other parties to send them unsolicited e-mail. In the event visitors encounter any user on this site who is improperly collecting or using information provided by the site’s members or visitors, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
What About Children’s Online Privacy?
AFDC services are not intended for and may not be used by children under the age of 13. AFDC does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 and does not target its websites or service to children under 13.
How Does AFDC Use Gathered Information?
Use of non-personally identifiable information
AFDC uses non-personally identifiable information in aggregate form to build higher quality, more useful online services by performing statistical analyses of the collective characteristics and behavior of the site visitors, and by measuring interests regarding specific areas of the site.
The site may contain links to other Internet Web sites, including other companies, charitable organizations, and other sites that may or may not be owned or operated by AFDC. Unless otherwise explicitly stated, AFDC is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such sites, including such sites’ use of any information (such as IP number, browser type, or operating system) collected when visitors to the site click through links to those sites. Even though such information might not identify the user personally, users should be familiar with the privacy practices of those other sites.
Use of personally identifiable information
The personally identifiable information collected in order to join the AFDC mailing list through the AFDC website, including, your name, address, e-mail address, and phone number and/or facsimile number, is gathered for the sole purpose of identifying the individual and his/her address in order to send the AFDC mail and correspondence the individual has registered to receive.
How do I “Opt-Out” from Receiving Promotional Communications?
Individuals must provide name, address, e-mail address, and phone number and/or facsimile number in order to register with AFDC in order to receive AFDC mail and correspondence. Individuals may choose to “opt out” of receiving promotional materials notifying them of any upcoming events or other information related to AFDC. If the user decides to discontinue receiving information from AFDC, please contact AFDC at INSERT EMAIL.
AFDC limits its own e-mail contact and solicitations to those users who have not “opted out” of receiving such communications. The solicitations are limited in that they, among other things, will clearly indicate the originator of the e-mail and provide the user with a method of “opting out” of receiving future communications of a similar nature.
To Whom Does AFDC Share and Disclose Information It Collects?
