The American Foundation for Disabled Children, Inc. (AFDC) is a New York based non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable corporation founded in 1991 by a group of concerned parents. Unhappy with bureaucratic delays and inadequate funding of programs for physically and mentally challenged children, these parents drew upon their many years of professional and volunteer services to create a foundation geared to provide volunteers with the resources and tools to work quickly and effectively with organizations that serve challenged children. In 2001, upon the urging of several long term volunteers, our mission expanded to include services for disadvantaged, homeless, and battered children. Recently AMFDC expanded its services to children suffering with all forms of cancer. The foundation along with its volunteers had the vision to promote activities that enhance the physical and emotional well being of not only those stricken with cancer, but to all disadvantaged and challenged children. |
